What is Dry Needling?
This technique uses a thin monofilament needle to interrupt dysfunctional connections between your nerves and the muscles they communicate with. Think of it as a reset for your neuromuscular system. This technique is not the same as acupuncture. The intention behind the placement of the needles with dry needling has nothing to do with the flow of “Qi” or the meridians of the body. We are observing your movement pattern and palpating the target area to make sure we address the restricted tissue. Depending on the level of involvement, one or multiple needles can be used to address muscles that are not functioning properly. The needles are inserted until the desired response is observed and then removed. Electrical stimulation can be applied while the needles are in place to create a greater lasting effect on the central nervous system.
